PANJIM: The Goa Legislative Assembly has scheduled a training program for the first-time MLAs as the month-long Monsoon Session commences on July 11.

Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday told reporters that since 19 out of 40 MLAs are first-timers in the Assembly, special training has been organized for them on June 7-8 in Panjim.

Pune-based Rambhau Mhalgi Prabhodini (RMP) will be training these Legislators. Details, however, of the training session were not shared with the media.

The RMP is a not-for-profit learning and research organization for government leadership aspirants and current government leaders.

The RMP government leadership training mission was implemented first at the behest of Parliamentarian Rambhau Mhalgi and since its establishment in 1982; the RMP has trained many government leaders

Tawadkar said that the exact number of days of the Monsoon Session is yet to be decided but said that it would be a lengthy session.

“We want to have a longer session so that all the MLAs will get proper time to speak on the floor of the House,” he said adding the number of days would be decided soon.
