OLD GOA: A training programme on ‘Beekeeping’ was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, in collaboration with Beekeepers Coop. Soc., Ankola-Karnataka.
Programme Coordinator Vishram Gaonkar briefed the participants about the advantages of beekeeping and also about the activities of KVK.
During the technical session, Keshav Naik, chairman of Beekeepers Coop. Soc., Ankola-Karnataka, explained different aspects of beekeeping like types of bees, their management, capturing the colonies from nature and dividing of the colonies.
During a practical session, Nandakumar Raikar, secretary of Beekeepers Coop. Soc., Ankola-Karnataka, demonstrated the handling of bees. The programme was coordinated by H R C Prabhu, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), Krishi Vigyan Kendra at ICAR Research Complex for Goa.
