MARGAO: Aiming to make the councillors equipped with all the required knowledge, including the waste management, a two day training session for the councillors of Margao and Cuncolim Municipal Council commenced on Monday at Nanu Beach Resort, Betalbatim.
On the first day of the session, several topics were discussed and explained to the councillors, which included a talk by Deputy Collector North Ajay Gaude on the Goa Municipalities Act 1968 and its rules, functions of chairperson/councillors/committees and the Chief Officer. Besides he also explained the role of Chief Officer, councillors and working of municipalities with regard to meetings, functioning of municipalities.
Goa Human Resource Commission secretary A W Rane, stressed the administrative and financial structure in government.
In the evening session Sanjiv Joglekar, Environmental Engineer, Goa State Pollution Control Board, spoke on the topic of the municipal solid waste management rules, 2016 and functions/duties of ULB’s in their implementation. Digvijay Desai, Assistant Manager of Goa Waste Management Corporation highlighted the Swachh Bharat Campaign and ODF.
On July 27, Ulhas Naik, Deputy Director, Directorate of Accounts and Sanjay Prabhu, ex-joint director of accounts will stress the devolution of funds and revenue generation. Besides, Michael D’Souza, IAS, Vincy Rebello, Preetam Godinho and Andrew D’Souzawill highlight on urban development schemes.
