PANJIM: Slamming the violation of conditions stated in the tender for the 37th National Games 2023 held in Goa last year, political analyst Trajano D’Mello on Tuesday demanded immediate inquiry of “GOBANANAS” (event management company for the event), alleging that invoices of an additional amount of crores over and above the initial tendered quote of Rs 109 crore were submitted.
Trajano has alleged that invoices submitted were over and above the tendered price, and requested the Chief Secretary, Sports Minister, and Chief Minister to immediately constitute an impartial inquiry in the said matter.
Trajano charged that “GOBANANAS” which was awarded the work of “Event Management Agency for National Games 2023, violated the tender conditions by presenting inflated bills over and above the tendered value of the original contract. The company presented invoices of an additional amount of crores over and above the initial tendered quote of Rs 109 crore (including GST).
Coming down heavily on the technical evaluation committee constituted to scrutinise or evaluate tender, he alleged that it had miserably failed to thoroughly evaluate bidder’s trustworthiness.
Moreover, he charged that the various hangers and equipment used by “GOBANANAS” were sub-standard.
To expose the over-invoicing or manipulation which is nothing but a daylight robbery of public exchequer money, Trajano claimed that he will prove the violation of tender by the event management company after receiving necessary documents under the RTI Act, from Sports Authority of Goa (SAG), and further requested the Chief Secretary to withhold payments of “GOBANANAS” till the inquiry is completed to his satisfaction and avoid loss of public exchequer.
