Trajano demands probe against govt counsel’s conduct in Old Goa case

PANJIM: Expressing concern about the lawyer representing the Union government and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the illegal construction of a bungalow in UNESCO heritage site at Old Goa, Lokacho Adhar president Trajano D’Mello said that he will stand with activists and NGOs to preserve the Goa’ cultural and historical value.

Alleging that the government’s counsel had failed to defend the case judiciously before the High Court, Trajano demanded a probe against the counsel’s conduct in the case.

Trajano said that he will request the Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra to take up the matter with appropriate authorities at the Centre and that the Lokacho Adhar will stand in solidarity with NGOs and activists in fight against the illegal structure and pledge to take firm action until justice is served.
