Coming in support of Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo, who was transferred to Goa Reserve Police Force, former Calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira has condemned the unceremonial transfer of the police officer.
Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo was unceremoniously transferred to Goa Reserve Police Force, following a report into the findings of the inquiry in rescue of 29 trafficked girl victims by the Goa Police late Monday evening.
“PI Raposo has not been shunted to Goa Reserve Police Force on the fallout of 29 rescued trafficking girls, but due to an upcoming festival in Candolim,” Sequeira told Herald.
“The event organizers were unable to get permission for the festival from the Calangute Police. Hence, he was shunted out of Calangute,” added Sequeira.
“The festival is nothing but an event full of drug-trafficking, prostitution and what not and the death of the girl last year due to overdose is a proof of its happening and surprisingly, till today nobody has been held guilty for the heinous crime,” stated Sequeira.
“The Calangute Police Inspector had strongly objected to holding of the event in the jurisdiction of Calangute Police station and it was for this sole reason that PI Raposo has been shunted out of Calangute to Goa Reserve Police Force,” claimed the former Calangute sarpanch.
“PI Raposo has always acted in a fair and unbiased manner with a strong arm against drug trafficking, prostitution and other ills in the society, giving least scope for political interference by the elected representatives,” he said.
“With the shunting of PI Raposo, the tourist belt of Candolim-Calangute will be prone to drug-trafficking, prostitution and even other tourism-related issues like noise pollution which was under control of PI Raposo,” added Sequeira.
