PARRA: An electric transformer was gutted in fire near Alva Mar Hall at Parra on Monday evening.
The Fire Services Department said that they received a call at 6 pm informing about the fire incident, following which they rushed to the spot with their fire tender from Mapusa Fire Station.
The linesmen from the local electricity department present at the spot, tried to rectify the fault. The loss is estimated to be over Rs 2 lakh.
Officials informed Herald that they received information from some locals that a transformer caught fire.
On reaching the spot they noticed that the fire was already put off. But as a precautionary measure, the fire team sprinkled sand around the transformer and returned to the fire station.
