Transformer smoke creates panic

MAPUSA: A timely intervention by the Mapusa Fire Station officials prevented the power supply transformer from setting ablaze near LIC Office close to Alankar Theatre, Mapusa, on Wednesday afternoon. 
The fire personnel rushed to the site on receiving the call, at 12.07 pm, saying that a smoke was emitting from a transformer, thereby creating panic around. 
The fire personnel managed to rectify the cause of the smoke. However, no damage to residential or commercial property was reported.
An official from the Mapusa Fire Station pointed out that they receive frequent calls of smoke emitting from the transformers in the city.
Earlier in the day, the fire station received another call at 11 am of a huge tree that fell on a villa at Libramen Vaddo, Sangolda. 
The front portion of the villa was partially damaged in this incident and the loss is pegged at approximately Rs 10,000.
