Zareen and Hina, transgender residents of Margao, expressed their joy as they were invited on Voters Day to collect their voting cards, marking their inaugural participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Zareen, sharing her excitement, stated, “We are very happy to be called here to collect our voting cards. As transgender, this is the first time we will vote. Even we have the right to vote.”
Hina echoed a similar sentiment, saying, “We are quite elated that we are called on Voters Day to collect our voter cards.”
This historic moment extends beyond Zareen and Hina, as 11 out of 20 transgender individuals in Margao have secured their voting rights in South Goa. The process is still underway for transgender individuals in North Goa.
