Transgenders demand better health, housing & employment

PANJIM: The transgenders have demanded that the Goa government pay attention to their better health, housing and employment stating that the State is way behind other State governments in providing services to transgenders.

The views were shared during a consultation titled, ‘Entitlements of Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation – Female and Transgender’on Sunday.

The transgenders also shared that they are abandoned by their family and to survive they either beg or indulge in sex work. They shared that they face discrimination when they visit hospitals, police stations, public toilets, employment or hire a house on rent and demanded that the Goa government pay attention to their demand for better health, housing and employment.
