PANJIM: The Governor, Chief Minister and Ministers are amongst nine specified dignitaries eligible to use the red beacon with flasher on their official vehicles.
The order issued by the Transport Department stated that besides the Governor, CM and ministers, it is the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Chief Justice of the High Court of Bombay, High Court judges, Leader of Opposition and the Advocate General who can use the beacon. The Chief Secretary; Chairman of Goa Public Service Commission and the State Election Commissioner are entitled to a red beacon without a flasher.
The order issued further states that amber light without flasher can be used by Principal District and Sessions Judges, District Magistrate, Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams appointed for election purposes, Executive Magistrate on duty of law and order, Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police and Director of Transport. On the other hand, amber light with flasher is allowed for Election Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India and executive staff of the Directorate of Transport while on enforcement duty.
The red and amber light with flasher is allowed for fire force operational vehicles while the blue light with flasher is for ambulance services and specialized vehicles permitted for rescue/special operations.
Blue and amber lights with flasher over the top of the vehicle covers traffic police vehicles, Police Department vehicles while on duty of law and order and vehicles escorting high dignitaries entitled to use red light with flasher. The order mentions that these vehicles can be used while on duty only.
