PANJIM: The Goa Youth Congress Committee (GYCC) and Nationalist Students Union of India (NSUI) on Friday approached Transport Department accusing private bus operators of harassing students, by not allowing them on board due to half ticket.
The delegation submitted memorandum to the Assistant Director Transport Francis Vaz.
In the memorandum, GYCC Chief Varad Mardolkar and NSUI President Ahraz Mulla said that students are being treated as second class citizens and not allowed to enter the buses by the private operators, who charge them full ticket.
They also charged that the students are abused, manhandled and insulted regularly by the conductors.
GYCC and NSUI has demanded that department should initiate some strict actions against such bus operators and conductors such as suspension of driving licence, badge of the conductor, suspension of permit and route.
