BICHOLIM: An irate mob of more than 100 villagers from Navelim in Sanquelim on Wednesday stopped ore transportation by trucks from Codli to Navelim.
According to sources, there was transportation of iron ore at Navelim from Pale side during morning hours. When the villagers learnt of the same, they gathered near Navelim Sanquelim junction point and stopped the truck.
On questioning the truck driver, the villagers learnt told that iron ore was brought from Codli mines. When situation went out of control some locals intimated the police, who rushed to the spot and maintained order.
The truck drivers informed the police that they had valid permission to transport the iron. They also showed the proof to the police due to which the issue was settled amicably.
