MAPUSA: Mapusa police have booked one Nirav Mistry, running a travel company in Parra and a native of Mumbai, for cheating.
Mapusa police said that one Harishchandra Sirsat, a resident of Parra, complained to them that Mistry allegedly offered to send the complainant on a three-nation tour (Singapore Malaysia and Indonesia) and charged Rs 1.60 lakh for the same. The complainant and the accused were allegedly in touch with each other over the issue from March 2019 to February 2020.
Later, Mistry informed the complainant that it was not possible for the complainant to go on this trip since Singapore rejected application of the complainant.
Following this, complainant demanded refund of his money, which Mistry failed to do so far.
Mapusa police have booked Mistry under Sections 406 and 420 of IPC. LPSI Vibha Volvoikar is investigating the case.
