PANJIM: In an unexpected event, a trawler, while returning from fishing, got stuck into the sea bed near the Miramar beach shore on Friday.
The incident occurred when the fishermen aboard the trawler dozed off, causing the boat to drift uncontrollably with the waves and ultimately get stuck in the sand.
As per the boat owner, the vessel had ventured into the sea a few days ago for fishing. While returning, the fishermen dozed off in the wee hours due to exhaustion, which led to the boat being washed away by the waves. Without anyone at the helm, the boat was carried by the waves and was lodged in the sand bed near the shore.
There were 28 crew on the vessel and thankfully all were safe and sound. Local fishermen quickly responded and successfully rescued all the occupants of the boat. No injuries were reported in the incident.
