PANJIM: A tree
collapsed on the main road, opposite KTC Bus stand Panjim on Monday.
Fortunately no injuries were reported. This incident occurred due to a
construction of a well inside the Ambedkar garden. Fire fighters and traffic
police were on site and cleared the fallen tree.
On Monday, a tree from
the Ambedkar garden, Patto, collapsed on the main road, opposite Panjim KTC Bus
Stand at Patto. This happened due to the construction of well taking place at Ambedkar
garden under the Smart City project. The soil on which the tree was standing
was deliberately removed for the well construction.
Since there was no
support for the tree, the tree ultimately collapsed on the main road. The
nearby trees are also surviving on the edge of a knife, as there is no base for
them to stand. Looking at the situation, it is clear that sooner or later the
rest of the trees will also fall. This incident highlighted the negligence of
the Smart City work once again.
Fortunately no
commuters were injured, but the traffic was affected and diverted from the
Divja Circle by the Traffic police. Immediately Panjim Fire and Emergency Services
(FES) were called to clear the tree. The FES team reached and swiftly cleared
the road, restoring the smooth flow of traffic.
