Tree falls in Cottombi, one injured

CURCHOREM: A resident of Cottombi was seriously injured after a huge tree came crashing down on the Curchorem-Oddar-Xelvona road on Monday.

CURCHOREM: A resident of Cottombi was seriously injured after a huge tree came crashing down on the Curchorem-Oddar-Xelvona road on Monday.
Power supply and traffic along the Curchorem-Oddar-Xelvona road was disrupted for several hours.
According to Curchorem Police, Eknath Prabhudessai was proceeding on his two-wheeler from Curchorem to Cottombi when the tree came crashing down on the road along with live high tension and low tension wires, damaging nearly five electricity poles.
Police further informed that Prabhudessai lost control over the vehicle and the two-wheeler hit the electricity pole. Seriously injured Prabhudessai was rushed to GMC Hospital at Bambolim in a critical condition.
Police said there were no other major damages to any house barring a minor damage to a private ambulance.
Curchorem Police and fire personnel rushed to the site and cleared the area, while the electricity department personnel were working till late in the evening to restore the power supply.
Curchorem PI Siddhant Shirodkar, PSI Therron D’Costa and Fire Station Officer Dilip Gawas rushed to the site and along with their personnel helped the injured to shift to GMC and also clear the road.
