Tree felling leading to deforestation: Curti locals

PONDA: Complaining that tree felling activity is being carried out in the forest areas of Curti and Bethora, Curti locals demanded that the forest officials initiate action to protect these areas.

According to a Curti local, he had complained to the Forest Department about the tree felling by the side of Curti-Bethora Bypass and expressed fear that the activity is leading to deforestation.

He said for the past one year the tree felling is carried out. The area is a private forest area and shelter to many wild animals. Due to tree felling wild animals stray in the village and town areas. In the past, many people had seen wild bison roaming in the residential areas in Curti and Bethora. Locals from Curti, Dhavalim and Borim claimed that leopards and wild bison roam freely in residential area.
