OLD GOA: A huge tree was uprooted on the sharp turn along the Old Goa Highway, at Bainguinim, early Christmas morning. This resulted in a huge traffic congestion on both sides. Traffic was disrupted for over 45 minutes.
Deputy Incharge of Old Goa Police Station Devidas Parab said that the fire personnel received a call at 1.40am on Sunday. On receiving the call they immediately rushed to the spot and found that the traffic was blocked. The fire personnel immediately began chopping the branches of the huge tree to clear the highway.
The tree also brought down electricity wires onto the main road. The Electricity Department immediately switched off the power supply, removed the wires and after the tree was removed, they began work on restoring the power lines.
