PONDA: The residents of Curti in Ponda were shocked to see the bushes and trees drying up on Bodko hill at Zigdimal in Curti.
They suspect that the trees and bushes might have died due to spraying of some chemicals in order to make easy hill cutting and construction activities.
The locals say that two month ago, they led an agitation and stopped the hill cutting. However, even after the hill cutting work was stopped, a lot of excavation was carried that damaged the hill, said Shrikant Naik and Naresh Naik who were part of the agitation.
Villagers say that they have been observing, for the last seven days, drying up of trees on the hill. They say that this might be the work of the builder to get rid of the trees since the people have been opposing cutting of trees and hill.
