MAPUSA: Two huge jackfruit trees crashed on three houses, near the temple at Nachinola causing a loss of Rs 1.35 lakh. The road was blocked till the fire officials cleared the tree.
In another incident at Quitla, Aldona a branch of a jackfruit tree came crashing on power lines on Friday night. The fire station was informed about this incident in the morning. The tree uprooting incidents left the locals puzzled as there were gusty winds on Friday night.
A tree fell on house at Siolim-Marna at around 11.30 am. The gallery and half of the roof were damaged. The owner suffered loss of Rs 70,000. The personnel from the fire department cleared the tree. However, no injuries were reported in the three incidents.
Over the last four days the Mapusa fire station received a total of 71 emergency and two fire-related calls.
