MARGAO: The Gakuved Federation has demanded transfer of Venancio Furtado as Director of Tribal Welfare & Chief Executive Officer to SC/ST Commission.
In a petition submitted to Chief Secretary, the Gakuved Federation has threatened to take legal recourse if Furtado is not transferred from his post within 10 days.
According the Federation, Furtado has blocked 79 tribal applicants from getting financial assistance under the Goa Tribal Employment Generation Programme (GTEGP). And for this reason the Federation has demanded the immediate transfer of Furtado.
The Federation has alleged that till date around 70 applicants have taken benefits under the scheme and have become self employed. However, at least 79 applicants are still waiting to get benefits as they are being held back by the Director of Tribal Welfare.
“Venancio Furtado recommended to government to degenerate the scheme and transfer it to EDC. But the government differed with his decision and recommended to clear the all pending applications,” the Federation said in a statement.
“Instead of approving the 79 applications, he again blocked it by saying all vehicles and goods carrier applications be transferred to Transport department & RTO. He is responsible for keeping 79 applications pending who are today unemployed,” the Federation alleged.
