Tribunal’s decision to divert Mhadei water will be challenged: Faleiro

Pledges to scrap the disputed linear projects once TMC forms the government

PANJIM/ CORTALIM: Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday highlighted the party’s commitment towards fulfilling its promise – ‘Abundant Water and Green Goa’, which is a crucial part of the manifesto and also pledged to scrap the disputed linear projects once it forms the government.

Assuring the people of Goa that TMC would take immediate action on the Manifesto points, AITC National Vice-President & Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro addressing the media said that he would raise this matter in the Rajya Sabha. “We promise that after the formation of the government, the tribunal’s decision to divert Mhadei water will be challenged and Goa’s right to Mhadei waters will be upheld,” said Faleiro

Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, he further said, “Goa is known as an abode of peace and tranquility but because of the failure of successive governments of both the BJP and Congress, the ecology, economy, and livelihood of Goa has been destroyed. Goa is not a coal destination but a tourism destination. Who sanctioned the double tracking of railway lines? Who approved the expansion of the Belagavi Highway?”

Meanwhile, Mariano Rodrigues, Goa TMC candidate from Cortalim slammed the BJP government accusing it of destructing Goa’s environment with sanctioning the three linear projects through Mollem National Park.
