Tributes to francis

It is with great sadness that I learned of passing of former deputy Chief Minister and MLA from Mapusa, Francis D’Souza. D’Souza was a tireless leader who devoted his entire life for the people of Goa. His passing is an enormous loss which has left a gaping hole among the ranks of able leaders.

Francis or Babush as I knew him, was a man of simple living and high thinking who not only understood the mind of the masses but also was in touch with them constantly. A man of integrity and honesty, he practiced what he preached, and stood for his word, a symbol of loyalty, a glowing personification of Goemkarponn that needs to be emulated by all of us; especially the youth. I hope to see these stellar qualities of the father in the son Joshua as he should take the unforgettable social work Babush has done for the people of Goa forward.

He was a very good friend of mine and he used to come to Salcete specially to meet me. I learned a lot from him, his patience, his quality of talking and understanding others. He always told me whatever happens, take it positively. He was an intellectual and real inspiring leader. He lived a gentleman’s life.

Saddened to hear about the demise of my dear friend and colleague Francis Dsouza. He was a great co-visionary, an honourable leader and contributor towards Goa’s progress. Above all he will be remembered as a humble human being.

Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Francis D’Souza. We pray for his eternal soul and may almighty grant his loved ones the courage to live and cherish his memories. 

D’Souza was a rare breed of what can be called ‘gentleman politician’ for whom good of the common man mattered more than his chair. I had the privilege of working with him and because of his farsightedness, many things could be achieved in the Urban Development and Municipal Administration department. Francis had belatedly realised that the political system in which he was, had become cruel. He had friends cutting across political affiliations. I think the BJP used him for votes. He was bitter when dropped.

I am deeply pained with the demise of my colleague in Goa Legislative Assembly Francis D’Souza. We both started our political career by getting elected as councilors and always shared a very hearty relationship.

I am deeply saddened by the news of demise of #FrancisDsouza. May the departed soul be at peace. 

Goa misses the two popular leaders of the masses who worked hard for the people at the grassroot level. Goans would not forget these former politicians who contributed to the welfare of Goans.

Death of a gentleman politician leaves a big void on the Goan political scene. He was secular personality who brought all the sections of the society together. He was a patient listener and always tried to find amicable solutions. I have lost a good friend.

He is my good friend and we were together in Goa Rajiv Congress. He was the leader of the downtrodden people and in him we have lost a good leader.
