MARGAO: Three persons from Naqueri in Quepem have been booked for theft of laterite rubble stones from a plot of land in the same village.
The case was registered by the Cuncolim police on a complaint by Suraj Kalangutkar, a technical assistant at the Director of Mines & Geology, Panjim. Kalangutkar complained that on January 18, at 12 noon and prior to that too, one Manoj Desai, Anton Simoes from Naqueri and an unknown JCB operator, using an earthmover fitted with a rock breaking hammer, illegally extracted laterite rubble stones from a plot of land surveyed under at 77, for personal gains.
Prior to lodging the complaint, Kalangutkar along with Quepem Mamlatdar and survey department officials conducted an inspection of the site, on January 18. Police said that Manoj Desai is the owner of the JCB used for extracting the stones, while Anton Simoes is the owner of the property from where the stones were extracted.
