MAPUSA: Mapusa Municipality Councillor Tarak Arolkar could be disqualified if the Other Backward Caste (OBC) furnished by him just before the council elections is found to be invalid.
A three-member scrutiny committee has ruled that the OBC certificate furnished by him during the time of election in 2021 is invalid and ‘not verified’.
“After considering the documents and associated evidence and facts, the complaint filed by the complainant is upheld. It is stated that the certificate bearing No BAR/170321966 issued by the office of the Dy Collector & SDO Mapusa Bardez is not verified,” states the order. Franky Carvalho, former councilor of Mapusa municipality, had filed a complaint in this regard.
