PONDA: Farmers in Wadiyewadi Bethki in Priol were in a distress as their ready to harvest paddy crop was damaged by heavy pre monsoon showers.
The farmers said that they did not get a wink of sleep as initially they ran from pillar to post knocking at the doors of the administration to avail the services of a harvester which was never provided to them.
“If the harvesters were provided to us on time, we would be safe,” said a farmers.
Then came the rains that shattered our dreams of harvesting their hard earned produce, they wailed.
Madukar Naik said around 30 to 40 per cent of the crop was damaged by rain.
The farmers also said that they have no proper access to transport their produce and have to depend on labour to lift and shift the bags manually which was turning into a costly affair.
