PONDA: A car was totally crushed by a speeding truck at sports complex junction in Ponda on Sunday morning.
However, the driver Abjith Prabugaonkar and an occupant Dr Hemali Desai had escaped with injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital at Bambolim.
At the time of the accident, the car was crossing the junction to proceed towards Nagamasjid road at sports complex junction while speeding truck was proceeding from Curti towards Maruthi temple on service road.
After the accident, the locals in Ponda expressed strong concern over their safety especially at the junction located below the flyover of National Highway.
The locals criticised the PWD officials for taking up the work without considering safety of the residents.
