MARGAO: Maina-Curtorim Police on Tuesday arrested the truck driver who caused death to 29-year-old youth from Shantinagar, Ponda, by driving in a rash and negligent manner.
Police said that truck driver Vikram Pratap Singh, native of Rajasthan, who has been booked under Section 279 and 304 A of Indian Penal Code has been arrested and the truck involved in accident seized.
In an accident reported at Tembi, Raia on Sunday between the scooter and truck, youth Rajuram Santlal, native of Uttar Pradesh died due to serious injuries.
Police had lodged a complaint against the driver for rash and negligent driving causing death to a 29-year-old youth.
According to Maina-Curtorim Police Station Police Sub-Inspector Chandrakhant Velip, who is investigating the case, the scooter rider was proceeding from Ponda towards Margao while the truck was also moving in the same direction. The truck driver dashed against the scooter rider causing serious injuries to him.
The truck driver also gave a dash to another scooter rider proceeding towards Margao but he escaped with minor injuries.
Police said that injured Rajuram was taken to South Goa District Hospital, Margao. However, the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
