CUNCOLIM: Santosh Hemanna Adger (32), a native of Karnataka and a truck driver, died of electrocution on Thursday at 9 am, when his vehicle came in contact with a high tension wire when he was unloading mud from his tipper truck at Balli near Konkan Railway Station.
Cuncolim police have registered the incident as unnatural death. After conducting panchanama, the police sent the body to Hospicio for post mortem.
Police said that after unloading mud near Balli Railway station for Konkan Railways Logistic Park project, when the victim was lowering the tipper, the vehicle came in contact with a high tension wire.
Meanwhile, the locals and other truck drivers have blamed the railway authorities and the contractor of the logistic park project for the death of Adger.
They said that due to mud filling, the height of the land has risen to the level of high tension line. “Due to land filling there is every possibility of trucks touching the high tension wire. Despite this, the railway authorities and the contractor carried out land filling without shifting the high tension line,” said a local.
Locals have demanded that a case of negligence be registered against the authorities concerned.
