PONDA: After three women were injured in a hit and run case at Bethora a couple of days ago, another hit and run case occurred at Ponda KTC junction on Saturday.
Angry locals chased and thrashed the truck driver Kailashsing Hirasingh (26) from Uttarakhand who fled with the truck after knocking down a bike rider. Later Police arrested him.
According to police, the driver was proceeding towards Farmagudi late evening on Saturday and on reaching KTC junction, he knocked down a splendour motorcycle due to which pillion rider suffered serious head injuries.
Noticing that the driver was fleeing from the spot, some locals chased the truck and stopped it near GVM College. They pulled the driver out of the truck and thrashed him.
The injured Ikbal Sheikh (35) from Ambegal Kavlem was rushed to Sub-District Hospital at Ponda and then to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim.
