Truck lands in field at Malpem, driver rescued

PERNEM: A driver of a tipper truck was rescued after losing control over the vehicle, which landed in a field at Malpem, on Saturday.

It is learnt that the incident to place at 2.10 pm when a truck driver was proceeding to Pernem from Panjim. The driver lost control and went off the road and landed in a field.

Twenty-eight-year-old truck driver Harpal Singh, a native of Punjab and currently residing in Panjim, got trapped inside the vehicle.

After receiving information, the Pernem fire team consisting of Prashant Dhargalkar fire officer, driver operator Ramdas Parab, fire-fighter Sahadev Chodankar, Vishal Patil, Ratan Parab, Sandesh Pednekar and Vishnudatta Parab rushed to the spot and rescued the driver, who was later sent for medical examination.

The truck was used for transporting sand.
