Truck loaded with relief material dispatched to Manipur

PANJIM: The Street Providence Trust, Sangolda, dispatched its fourth truck loaded with relief material worth Rs 18.90 lakh to Manipur. 

A team of volunteers will travel to Manipur to ensure the distribution of the relief material to displaced persons in the rehabilitation camps.

The relief material comprises 4,000 boxes of Christmas cookies, 5,000 boxes of Bebinca, 200 blankets, nine wheelchairs, 33 crates of chicken cocktails, 1,600 cloth pieces and toiletries to uplift the spirits of those residing in the relief camps. 

The truck, which was blessed by Archbishop Dominic Lumon of the Archdiocese of Imphal, was flagged off by Col Manish Kumar Singh, Ex-ADC Manipur at St Francis Church Grounds, Duler, Mapusa, with the presence of priests, Parish Council members of St Francis Xavier Church, trustees, benefactors, volunteers, and the staff of Street Providence Trust.

The 10th Shelter Home for homeless women was also inaugurated at Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King at Candolim.

A thanksgiving mass by Archbishop Lumon was held at St Thomas Church, Aldona, followed by felicitation of volunteers from North Goa.

On the following day, a thanksgiving mass by Archbishop Lumon was celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Navelim, followed by felicitation of volunteers from South Goa.
