MAPUSA: A truck rammed into Shri Saraswati Temple at Verem on Tuesday causing a loss estimated at Rs 6 lakh.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 1.45 am on Tuesday, when the truck carrying cement was heading towards INS Mandovi and upon reaching Verem, the truck driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel due to brake failure. The truck first hit a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler and then rammed into the temple.
President of Devasthan Deepak Dabholkar said, “The truck carrying cement was heading towards INS Mandovi and according to the driver, he lost control over the steering due to a brake failure. It first dashed against two vehicles and then rammed into the temple. We have suffered a loss of around Rs 6 to 7 lakh. We have asked the concerned owner to repair the damaged property of the temple and they have agreed to do so.”
