Truckers to join bandh against hike in insurance

PONDA: The truck owners in Goa have decided to support the bandh call given by All India Motor Transport Congress on April 8, to protest the hike in third party insurance for all vehicles.

PONDA: The truck owners in Goa have decided to support the bandh call given by All India Motor Transport Congress on April 8, to protest the hike in third party insurance for all vehicles.
Addressing the media, truck owners’ representatives said that the hike in third party insurance for all vehicles is not affordable to vehicle owners. Moreover, they said, it would not benefit the vehicle owners in anyway.
To protest the insurance hike and to force the government to withdraw the same, the North and South Goa Truck Owners Association has appealed to the owners of two wheelers, four wheelers, buses, trucks, rickshaw, heavy vehicles and other vehicle owners to participate in the bandh by keeping their vehicles off the road.
The press briefing was addressed by Sandeep Parab, Prakash Gawas, Satyawan Gaonkar, Cajeteen Fernandis, Yashwant Desai, Suresh Desai, Balsu Desai and Laxman Desai.
