Truck owners from South Goa on Friday complained to the district Collector Venancio Furtado and the district police chief Shekar Prabhudessai about the rampant violations by the local truck owners in respect of ore transportation from the Naqueri plateau. Led by their lawyer, Adv Anacleto Viegas, they pointed out that the local truck owners are violating the queue system with impunity in the absence of police personnel to man the system.
Adv Viegas told the media that the Collector’s order for transportation of ore from Naqueri speaks about deployment of two police personnel to monitor the queue system He, however, lamented that police personnel are not seen around the mine, leaving the local truck owners a free run to violate the queue system.
A truck owner from Cuncolim Ashok Desai said that the delegation of truck owners from South Goa have told the Collector and the district police chief to check the violations before the situation goes out of control. “”The local truck owners do not follow the queue system. This has to stop forthwith as per the Collector’s order before the situation taken a turn for the worse”, he said.
The truckers from South Goa has warned the authorities to enforce the rule of law at the Naqueri mine or have else threatened to stop all transportation of the bauxite ore from Naqueri.
