MARGAO: A gloomy morning turned a pleasant evening for the truckers in South Goa, when Sesa Vedanta mining company agreed to pay the rates demanded by the transporters.
At a meeting convened by Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pauskar, the company officials agreed to the demands of truckers for diesel supply and ore transportation rates. The meeting was also attended by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Sanguem MLAs Prasad Gaonkar and hundreds of truck owners.
At the meeting, the Sesa Goa officials agreed to revise and fix the diesel rate from Rs 58 per liter to Rs 52 per liter.
Both the parties have also accepted that for the first 10 kms, the rate will be Rs 12.50 per tonne per km, 11-20 kms will be Rs 12 per tonne per kilometre and from 21-30 kms, the rate will Rs 11.50 per tonne per km.
