Trucks collide at Borim, block traffic for hours

PONDA: Two speeding trucks coming from the opposite direction collided against each other and subsequently paralysed traffic for nearly three hours early on Wednesday morning on Borim road at Mestawada, Borim.
An ill-fated motorcyclist, who reached the spot during collision narrowly managed to escape from being crushed under the vehicles. However, his bike went under the wheel of one truck and was damaged in the process.  The impact was such that the back and front tyres of both trucks burst. 
The truck drivers too escaped without injuring themselves.
The accident took place around 7.30 am and long traffic queues were witnessed till around 11 am.
The motorcyclist, Rasain Dias from Shiroda, who is bus driver by profession was lucky to escape unhurt, but was visibly shaken. He said on seeing the two trucks colliding, he slowed his bike and jumped off, only to see his bike skid under one of the trucks.
Long queues of almost 5 km were witnessed on both sides after the accident and people, specially office-goers were stranded in traffic jam that followed.
