Two shacks gutted at Benaulim

MARGAO: Two beach shacks were gutted in a major fire at Benaulim in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Property worth lakhs of rupees have been destroyed in the fire.
Shack owner Roger Fernandes told Herald that all items in the shack were reduced to ashes in the devastating fire that engulfed the shack. He has put the total loss between Rs 10 and 15 lakh.
“The whole range of goods including music system, refrigerators, chairs, tables etc were all gutted. Rough estimates have put the loss between Rs 10 and 15 lakh”, he said.
Another shack owner Damacian Fernandes said he was intimated of the fire incident at around 5 am by his workers. Though none of his workers have sustained any injuries, all belongings in the shack were gutted.
“Everything housed in the shack, including the music system and other goods were all gutted”, he said, while putting the total loss of goods at Rs 12-15 lakh.
