There was tussle between the parties regarding the auctioning of fish brought by the purse seine boat owner. Since Saturday, the boat with catch was remained abandoned on Jetty.
On Monday Deputy Collector of South Ajit Panchawadkar visited the Cutbona Jetty and asked them to resolve the issue amicably. He warned the warring parties if there is a law and order issue then he would be forced to take action.
On the intervention of Deputy Collector, the Cutbona boat owners decided to pay compensation to purse seine boat owner, who was allegedly not allowed to auction the fish.
Cutbona Boat owners decided to nominate Kennedy Alemao as the president with all new faces on committee. It was also agreed to dissolve both purse seine and small boat owners committees but the formal decision will be taken during general body meeting.
However, Kennedy says that he does not agree to the post but added that he would like peace and harmony to prevail amongst the fishermen.
“Now, under the leadership of Kennedy Alemao, the differences between the groups will be sorted out,” Savio added.
