PORVORIM: A total of 20 more ambulances are need to totally revamp the existing fleet of 108 Ambulances, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told the Goa Assembly on Thursday. He was replying to a Question from Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco. The Curtorim MLA said people complain that the 108 Ambulances take lot of time to reach the patient. How long does it take for the ambulance to take the patient from the spot to the hospital he asked.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said Goa is the only State with advance life saving systems have been adopted. The entire fleet of 108 Ambulances need to be replaced after five years. There is lot of pressure on them, hence they maybe delayed, he said.
Sometimes there are multiple emergencies in one area, hence ambulances maybe delayed. There are 23 complaints against them he admitted, but these are debatable.
Twenty more ambulances are needed, besides we have 4 backup ambulance, 5 cardio-specialty ambulances and two neo-natal ambulances, he added.
