The country reacted with shock and deep sadness at the passing away of one of the tallest leaders Goa has ever produced. Cutting across political lines, from the President and Prime Minister of India to virtually the entire Narendra Modi cabinet, as well as political parties- allies and adversaries alike, condoled the passing away of one of the mist dynamic politicians in the nations landscape .
The Goa Govt has declares one day holiday and 7 day mourning. His last rites will be conducted at 5 pm at Miramar, Panjim Goa tomorrow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely followed the President of India Ramnath Kovind, who incidentally “broke” the news through a tweet from his official twitter handle around 7 pm in Sunday
Vice President V. Naidu too joined in with his condolences and he said “He is one of the most lovable and honest senior politicians of our country. He was a dynamic and dedicated individual who led life full of values and principles. Deeply saddened”
The Prime Minister said “Shri Manohar Parrikar was an unparalleled leader. A true patriot and exceptional administrator, he was admired by all. His impeccable service to the nation will be remembered by generations; Deeply saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters.
The BJP president Amit Shah tweeted “Manohar Parrikar ji’s demise is extremely painful. In him, the nation has lost a true patriot who selflessly dedicated his entire life to the country and ideology. Parrikar ji’s commitment towards his people and duties was exemplary.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh reacting to his death tweeted “Deeply saddened and pained by the demise of my dear friend & Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar. He was known for his honesty, integrity and simplicity. He served the nation and the state of Goa with great diligence. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family”
Minister for Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari who worked very closely with the Goa government and was unofficially in charge of Goa’s affairs from the party said “BJP has faced a huge loss with the demise of Manohar Parrikar Ji, Apart from being a party member, he was a really close friend of mine. He isn’t with me today & I’m personally very pained by this. I am immediately leaving for Goa.
The Goa Congress, which had a strenuous relationship with the Chief minister stated “We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of BJP stalwart and Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, after a long battle with cancer.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.
The Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi VAdra were also quick to express their condolences. Rahul Gandhi had recventyly met PArriakr at his office in Goa to inquire about his health. “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Goa CM, Shri Manohar Parrikar Ji, who bravely battled a debilitating illness for over a year”, he tweeted
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said “My condolences to the bereaved family of Shri. Manohar Parrikar. I met him only once, when he graciously visited my mother at the hospital two years ago. May his soul rest in peace”
Leader of the Opposition on the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said “Goa CM Manohar Parrikar) was a good human being. His passing away has left a huge gap in politics; we have lost a good politician. His demise has caused us immense grief. I express my grief and I pay my tributes on behalf of my party and myself”

The Goa Board has postponed tomorrow’s hssc exam in banking, computer science, logic and coperation, due to sad demise of Honble CM Shri Manohar Parrikar. The New date of examination is 27 March 2019.
