Two arrested by Panjim Police for fraudulently withdrawing cash from ATM

PANJIM: The Panjim Police arrested two persons for fraudulently withdrawing cash from an ATM of the Goa Urban Cooperative Bank. 

Veer Sen Gupta, aged 33 years and native of Thane (Maharashtra); and Devnath Kalabeliya, aged 38 years from Rajasthan were arrested after alert bank officials took a quick action. 

“The two alleged accused were inserting one ATM card after the other, at the ATM centre. An official in the IT section of the bank noticed them through the CCTV footage after which he alerted other bank officials about suspicious behaviour of the two men,” a police official said adding, “The bank officials shut the centre and called the police.” 

The two men were immediately taken into custody and nearly two dozen ATM cards were seized from their possession. Cash of Rs 25,000, reportedly withdrawn from the same ATM has been recovered. The police are investigating whether the cards belong to them or stolen or fake.
