VALPOI: The Valpoi police on Monday arrested two youths Qadar Sheikh and Sheikh Salim Chorat, both residents of Penha de Franca on the charge of assaulting a petrol pump attendant at Honda.
Meanwhile, tension was rife in the air as a large number of irate villagers gathered outside the Honda police outpost demanding that both the assailants be produced at the police outpost.
Sattari Mamlatdar Kaushik Dessai and Valpoi PI Prajyot Fadte tried to diffuse the situation by talking to the agitated villagers.
The protestors mostly youth from Honda, Valpoi and Pissurlem were miffed over the assault case and questioned the police as to why the petrol pump worker was beaten up without any provocation.
