“We received information that Palkar reportedly fell near the water tap at Shafi Masjid in Baina and sustained injuries to his head on Monday. He was taken to Cottage Hospital, Chicalim and then referred to GMC, Bambolim, where he died from excessive blood loss. We registered the case as unnatural death.
However, the father of the deceased approached us the next day and filed a complaint claiming that he suspects that his son was killed by some locals to settle old scores,” said Vasco Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar.
Following the claims of the father, the police started their investigation and rounded up three youth from the area. One amongst the arrested spilled the beans and the police were able to wrap up the case quickly. “The main accused in the case is Nadaf, who intended to physically hurt the victim in order to settle previous enmity. He assaulted Palkar with a wooden stick and the victim sustained grievous injuries and died due to loss of blood,” said the police. They have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and have arrested both the accused.
