CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police arrested two foreigners for staying illegally in the country in a drive against overstaying of foreigners.
The two ladies in their early twenties namely, Elizabeth Paul Mgusi, a Tanzanian and Minamu Hafusa, from Uganda were intercepted at Candolim Ximer by the Calangute police team lead by PI Nolasco Raposo.
They were found to be overstaying in India without valid travel documents including a valid visa and passport.
Two separate offences are booked against them and the accused foreigners were produced before JMFC, Mapusa who remanded them in police custody for 14 days.
With the setting up of foreigners detention centre, the police have turned the heat on foreigners who are over staying their visa period. And PI Raposo said such arrests would continue.
