PONDA: Surangi Farm manager Shankar Fadtare and his employee Muthu Nilu Gavali were arrested by the Collem Forest Department, in connection with the death of a leopard last week near Sanjivani Sugar Factory, Dharbandora, They were later released on bail.
The leopard was found in an injured state on Thursday afternoon and Collem forest department’s forest officer Ravi Shirodkar alongwith other officials then rushed to the site by 6 pm but could not save the injured cat.
After investigations, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary manager Paresh Parab had ascertained that the leopard had died due to injuries sustained after getting trapped in a snare. Later, the forest officials after enquiry arrested the aforementioned persons. Both were produced before the judge in the Sanguem court and were released on bail. Both the accused have been asked to report at the Collem forest department office for five days.
