MARGAO: Margao Town Police registered two cases following complaint and cross complaint from two parties after a fight at Calconda over information given to the Health Services about a suspected COVID-19 case.
As per the complaints lodged with the police, one of complainants demanded an enquiry on how confidential information was leaked to the public.
Fazal Sayed, 23, in his complaint stated that he and his brother Muzaffar Shaikh (27) were beaten up by Munnu Sayed, Razak Sayed, Arif Sayed, Maqbool Sayed and Ayush Shaik and threatened with dire consequences.
In a video that went viral, he said, he was assaulted because he had called 104 the number given by the government to give information regarding COVID-19 as he knew that one Maqbool Sayed had returned after attending the Tablik Jamaat meeting in Delhi.
Soon thereafter, Sayed Khaja Hussain (34) complained to the police that at around 3 pm Fazal Shaikh along with Irfan Shaikh, two minor boys and Sohail Shaikh from Housing Board in Davorlim assaulted Abdul Razak and his father Maqbool Razak with dandas and hockey sticks and warned them of dire consequences.
In both the cases the parties have been booked for unlawful assembly, rioting, causing hurt, criminal intimidation, using dangerous weapons and also for performing acts that would spread infection and also disobeying orders promulgated by the Collector.
While all have been placed under arrest Fazal Sayed is admitted to Hospicio for treatment.
Incidentally in his video Fazal demanded an enquiry as to how the confidential information that he had given to the Health Services was leaked to public and demanded that the chief minister to enquire this.
