According to reports, Nilesh Parsekar and Pradesh Chodankar on Thursday morning booked a room in a hotel at Sawantwadi for one day, where they had lunch and dinner. However, when the hotel owner knocked at the door of the room on Friday at about 9.20 am, he did not get any response from the two youth.
The hotel owner then alerted Sawantwadi police, who rushed to the hotel and broke open the door and found the duo dead in the room. While Nilesh committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan, Pradesh consumed poison.
Police recovered suicide notes from their pockets, in which the duo stated that they are taking the drastic step due to harassment by their superiors at a money exchange office in Calangute.
Sawantwadi police conducted the panchanama and sent the bodies to the government hospital at Sawantwadi for post-mortem.
Porvorim correspondent adds: Purvi Chodankar had filed a complaint with Porvorim police station on December 4 stating that her husband, Pradesh, was missing since December 3, while Aarti Parsekar had filed a complaint with Mapusa police station on December 5 stating that her husband, Nilesh, was missing from December 3.
