Two brothers on a holiday drown at Arambol lake

ARAMBOL: In a heart breaking incident, two brothers hailing from Jammu and Kashmir lost their lives in a drowning accident at the picturesque ‘Sweet Water Lake’ in Arambol. The victims have been identified as Aman, 28 and Abhishek, 34. The incident occurred when the siblings were enjoying their vacation and had gone for a swim when tragedy struck.

The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 8:40 am when the Pernem fire brigade received an urgent distress call, reporting that two youth were in distress in the waters near the ‘Sweet Water Lake’ in Arambol. The brothers had arrived in Goa along with their friends, Sumit Srivastava, 33 and Ruhan Gujra, 28 from Delhi, to celebrate Abhishek’s upcoming wedding.

Eyewitnesses say they were shocked as they saw Aman and Abhishek struggling in the water and they immediately contacted local authorities and the fire brigade. Search and rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene, initiating an exhaustive search operation. After approximately two hours of efforts, the bodies of the two brothers were recovered from the water.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Tragically, several years ago, a group of tourists from Bengaluru had also faced a similar fateful incident in this very area.
